Schengen space, CVM report, on talks’ agenda of minister Cazanciuc in France

Romania’s Justice Minister Robert Cazanciuc has been on visit to Paris, on Monday and Tuesday where he held talks with his French counterpart Christiane Taubira, on the agenda of the talks between the two officials being also topics like the process of Romania’s joining the Schengen area, and our country’s desire to obtain a positive report on the Cooperation and Verification Mechanism (CVM), by the end of the year.
“During the talks the Romanian Justice Minister presented the main current benchmarks of the Romanian legal system such as the coming into force of the four Codes, the main goals assumed within the European partnership, through the Mechanism for Cooperation and Verification, and our country’s desire to obtain a positive report by the end of this year. The Romanian Minister emphasized the requirement of drawing up a development strategy of Romania’s legal system, relying on the results obtained within the CVM,” informs Justice Ministry release sent to Agerpres .
Likewise, on the occasion of the meeting, the two officials highlighted the importance of endorsing and initiating joint Romanian-French projects on the European agenda, as the continuation of a long cooperation tradition in justice.
Both parties also emphasized the importance of the issue of the unaccompanied Romanian minors in France, the Romanian Justice Minister underscoring the requirement of identifying solutions aimed at the minors’ right to benefit from State’s protection, above all. At the same time, it was also evoked the importance of the joint efforts at informing the public opinion about the real implications of the problems.
The above-mentioned source also informs that France’s Justice Minister Christiane Taubira accepted the invitation to visit Bucharest, in autumn.
