Cernavoda two units post 4.7 million MWh in first 5 months

The two units of the Nuclear Power Plant at Cernavoda (south-eastern Romania) in the first five months of this year produced more than 4.734 million MWh, of which 4.343 million MWh were delivered to the National Grid, according to the data published on the site of Nuclearelectrica. In the first five months of 2013 Unit 1 produced 2.572 million MWh and delivered 2.366 million MWh, with an average capacity factor amounting to 101.08 percent, and Unit 2 produced 2.162 million MWh and delivered 1.977 million MWh, with an average capacity factor of 84.84 percent. Romania’s nuclear power consumption last year was 2.6 million tonnes of oil equivalent, accounting for 0.5 percent of the world one, in keeping with the statistics of the British Petroleum. The nuclear power consumption dropped in Romania by 2.7 percent from the previous year, but was more than twice as much as the one in 2002, when it totalled 1.2 million toe.
