The first exports of gas have already been made. Under current legislation, in effect since July 1, 2013, the producers can export gas through backhaul transactions, a gas export procedure by means of virtual exchanges, declared for HotNews.ro Nicolae Havrilet, the president of the National Regulatory Authority (ANRE). According to the information HotNews have, the first transactions were made between gas producer Amromco, that has a market share of 2 pc in Romania, and the Hungarian group Mol. Nicolae Havrilet has not confirmed the information related to this transaction saying that the monitoring hasn’t started yet, but that, beginning next month reports of all the exports made will be carried. The ANRE president also says that Romania cannot export more than 300 million cubic meters per year, provided that the annual production is of about 11 billion cubic meters. The exports are limited by the fact that the technical capacity isn’t enough to achieve even the virtual exchanges. Havrilet said that the export prices recorded so far are lower by about 40 dollars per thousand cubic meters compared to the import prices. The ANRE president said also that, for the time being, only the small producers will be able to sign export contracts. Romgaz and Petrom have agreed with the Government not to export before 2015.
