The Mar SRL company controlled by BNR governor Mugur Isarescu and his family posted for last year a net profit of RON 470.000 (EUR 105,000), up 20 pc against the figures of 2011, according to data released by the Ministry of Finance. The company, which owns approximately 40 hectares of vineyard at Dragasani, Valcea County, had in 2012 a turnover of RON 2.68 M (EUR 0.6 M). With these results, Mar SRL is a small player in the wine industry, but an increasing number of such companies (which own several dozens of hectares planted with grapevine) appear of late, zf.ro reports. The wines produced at Dragasani and sold under the ‘Casa Isarescu’ brand name are positioned in the premium price segment. “The governor received as right of inheritance, few years ago, from his wife’s parents, a plot of land, approximately three quarters of a hectare planted with Tamaioasa Romaneasca. As he is a passionate vine grower, same as his mother’s family, the governor started to buy land from owners in the region,” said Cristian Dina, commercial manager of SC Mar SRL, for gandul.info. The data of last summer, quoted by gandul.info show that the governor’s vineyard had reached 40 hectares, of which 30 with productive vine.
