President Traian Basescu took part yesterday in ceremonies organised for the Girls’ Fair on Mount Gaina in Alba County, a mountain plateau situated almost 1,500 metres high. On this occasion, Basescu took a crowd bath, walking among other participants, talking to locals and taking pictures with several of them. The Head of State then climbed on foot up to Crucea Iancului, where he placed a flower crown on behalf of the Romanian presidency. Town and county authorities in Alba organised a festivity there, including a Te Deum service, after which the institution representatives also placed flower crowns. A day before, the Head of State mingled with the crowd at the Saint Elijah (Saint Ilie in Romanian) Fair in Costesti, Arges County. When one of the local women asked him for more job opportunities, he replied: “The Prime Minister said he will invest EUR 10 billion this year. (…) As soon as he comes here, ask him for more jobs; he always gives”. Basescu waved at the participants at the fair, shaking hands with several locals and talking to them. He took pictures with some of them and their babies. On the same day, Basescu took part in the Town Days in the village of Ungheni, Arges County.
