Infested water in stores: 26 tons of water removed from the market



According to realitatea.net, almost 26 tons of bottled water were removed from the market countrywide, after it was found that the water contained antibiotic resistant bacteria or a nitrate concentration over the permitted limit. According to the cited source, the biggest water quantity removed was reported in Vaslui, Iasi and Dambovita. Upon controls, public health inspectors revealed that the water contained antibiotic resistant bacteria that could cause respiratory or urinary infections, septic poisoning or even death. Almost 26.000 litres of mineral and still water were removed from the market in 30 counties. Fines amounted to RON 47,000. In Alba, entire batches of bottled water contained a high concentration of nitrates exceeding the permitted limit, while in Giurgiu, Dolj, Bihor and Iasi companies were found that bottled water even though they were not approved by health directorates.
