A woman from a village in Iasi sold her children for money to insulate her house and buy another home. The mother asked for RON 50,000 in exchange for her new born baby. Reporters for ‘Libertatea’ newspaper filmed an entire scene with a hidden camera. The negotiations for selling the baby were conducted in Slobozia village, Iasi County. In exchange for RON 10, any villager is willing to direct the buyers to the family interested in selling children. “I have no money to raise them so I left my latest new born, a boy, at the Maternity Ward in Cuza Voda, Iasi County. I can give you that one. My husband left me and went abroad, but the baby is a cutie. You won’t be sorry if you take him with you,” the woman said. She allegedly said that with the money she would have received for the baby, she would have bought a house and insulation for it. The family also said that other children have been sold in the past in the village.
