Romania’s ancient gold and silver to be on display at MNIR

“Romania’s ancient gold and silver” is a comprehensive exhibition of more than 1,000 representative archaeological items dug up in Romania dating back from the Neolithic to the 6th-7th centuries that will open in late October at the National Museum of Romania’s History (MNIR). “This should be the exhibition of the year 2013 at MNIR,” MNIR Director General Ernest Oberlander-Tarnoveanu told Agerpres on Friday after staring collecting exhibits for a China’s treasures exhibition. He said ‘Romania’s ancient golf and silver’ has been prepared for one and a half year. Organisers want to showcase treasure items of precious metals made by the civilisations that used to roam today’s Romania, from the Neolithic to the era of migration’s and the time when the Byzantine Empire lost the Danube borders and mouths,’ said Tarnoveanu. The exhibition, mounted in cooperation with 31 Romanian museums hosting important treasure items will stay open throughout February 2014, when it is scheduled to start traveling the country.
