19 people were injured yesterday morning in Gorj after a truck flipped over and landed in a precipice. The manager of the Ambulance Service in Gorj issued a statement for Mediafax, saying that 17 people were mildly injured, having suffered fractures and contusions, while two other persons – a 33-year-old woman and a 13-year-old girl – were severely injured. The 33-year-old woman was transported to the capital by a SMURD helicopter, as she was paralysed, and the 13-year-old girl was taken to Timisoara by another helicopter; she had suffered brain trauma with cervical spine contusion and thoracic trauma.
According to State Secretary for the Ministry of Health Raed Aafat, two other SMURD helicopters were sent to Baia de Arama to assess the casualties. He also stated that the total number of accident casualties “seems to be” 19. The little girl transported by helicopter to Timisoara was admitted to the County Hospital
13 other injured persons are currently undergoing medical analyses at the hospital in Baia de Arama. Based upon the analyses, it will be decided whether or not they need to be transferred to another medical facility. The police have also opened a criminal investigation on bodily harm charges against the driver of the truck that flipped over in a precipice in Gorj County.
