Muslims joined prayers in Bucharest



President Basescu thanks Muslim community for contributing to Romanian society development.
Muslims take part in Eid al-Fitr prayers in Bucharest. Muslim men and women joined prayers at the Dinamo stadium in the Romanian capital, in the largest Muslim public gathering of the year. Eid al-Fitr marks the end of the holy month of Ramadan, during which Muslims all over the world fast from sunrise to sunset.
President Traian Basescu on Thursday has sent a message to the Muslim community of Romania on the occasion of the holiday marking the end of the month of Ramadan, in which he gives thanks for the contribution to the development of the Romanian society, according to a Presidential Administration release.
“At the end of the month of Ramadan, I want to send to all the representatives of the Muslim community of Romania my very good thoughts accompanied by sincere wishes of joy and prosperity. The traditional festivity marking the end of this period with deep significations to the Muslim spirituality is an occasion of joy in the family and in the community and, at the same time, a good opportunity to reflect on the importance of the spiritual traditions and values in the identity of a community,” shows the message the head of state has sent.
