The Court of Appeal adjourned on Thursday, until September 30, the discussions in the “Foresta Nehoiu” case, in retrial in the Civil Court. A new date was set since Omar Hayssam was not cited. The “Foresta Nehoiu” case, in which Omar Hayssam was sentenced to three years in prison, in June 2010, by the Supreme Court will be retried in the Civil Court only. At the Thursday session, the Court of Appeal judges set another date due to lack of procedure regarding the citing of Omar Hayssam. The new date was set for September 30. Until the next date, Omar Hayssam will have to be cited by the National Penitentiary Administration. Omar Hayssam was sentenced in absence, in three cases, to 20 years, 16 years and 3 years in prison for kidnapping the journalists, deceiving in the “Volvo” case and fraud in the “Foresta Nehoiu” case. In the “Foresta Nehoiu” case, Omar Hayssam was sentenced by the Supreme Court in June 2010, to 3 years in prison, after inferior courts decided on him and the other defendants to be acquitted. Hayssam was accused of signing the privatisation contract for “Foresta SA Nehoiu” (Buzau) as a Chairman of the board, and together with the vice president of the Council, George Iosif sold between October 2001 and July 2004 the assets of the company, especially land.
