Sapanta hosts Romania Roots Revival Festival

The festival organized at Sapanta by president of the Intercultural Traditions Association Peter Hurley continues this year.
According to organizers, the 2013 edition will be named after a local hero – Stan Ioan Patras – creator of the Merry Cemetery in Sapanta. The festival is to be run between August 15-17, under the auspices of Sapanta Town Hall, in partnership with the National Tourism Authority, Agerpres informs.
Seven young musicians from seven countries are to meet for the first time in Romania and will spend seven days together in Maramures. The musicians invited to the first edition of Romania Roots Revival from Turkey, Iran, Republic of Moldova, Armenia, Romania, Ireland, Lebanon will travel through Maramures villages looking for traditions and rituals that inspire the traditional music.
