A St. Mary’s Day Fair will be organized in order to restore the atmosphere of the old fairs, on Thursday, at the National Village Museum “Dimitrie Gusti” in Bucharest, a Mediafax press release informs.
So, on this great religious holiday, the National Village Museum “Dimitrie Gusti” will offer the public an attractive program with craft demonstrations, exhibitions, an artisan’s fair, traditional food, specific for this period, and bio products. Between Saint Mary’s Day (The Dormition of St. Mary – August 15) and the Nativity of Theotokos (September 8), the autumn agricultural work begins and the wedding season begins. In some areas of the country, on the day of the Assumption, women go to church and share grapes, plums, flowers, medicinal herbs and to cemetery to burn incense at the graves. In the villages, this is the day when it is customary to employ watchers for the vineyards and to give an offering of the new grapes.
The fair will be open from 9 a.m. to 7 p.m.
