DacFest Festival at Dacian fortress Sarmizegetusa Regia in Hunedoara

Agerpress reports that tourists who visited the Dacian fortress Sarmizegetusa Regia located in Orastiei Mountains yesterday were pleasantly surprised by a free-of-access guided tour of this historical monument, as part of Open Gate Day and the opening of a new edition of the “DacFest – history, nature, culture” Festival, held between 20 and 25 August in Costesti, Hunedoara County. As of this year, the Town Council of Hunedoara is in charge of the Dacian fortress Sarmizegetusa Regia and has formulated a set of specific visitation rules in this respect to be obeyed by upcoming tourists. The area surrounding the monument has been cleaned and the inaesthetic outgrowth spread over approximately 19 hectares of land managed by the County authorities has been removed. The DacFest event includes an ancient costume parade that will take place today in Orastie and tomorrow, tourists will have the opportunity to participate in civilian and military workshops and interactive games for children on the stage set up in Costesti. “The great confrontation between Dacians and Romans”, a battle symbolising the war between the two peoples, is scheduled to take place Friday, at 6 p.m. and will be followed by a folk concert performed by Mircea Vintila. The last two days of DacFest are dedicated to promoting traditional products and authentic folklore.
