Minister of European Funds (MFE) Eugen Teodorovici stated that since the beginning of the year, Romania was reimbursed EUR 1.47 billion by the European Commission and the absorption rate has currently reached over 21 percent. “This year, the European Commission has reimbursed Romania EUR 1.47 billion, of which over EUR 1.1 billion were cashed for resuming payments via three programmes, following the measures implemented by the Romanian government”, Teodorovici stated, according to a press release issued yesterday. He added his assessment that “this fall, the Commission will decide to resume payments to Romania via the Sectoral Operational Programme Increasing Economic Competitiveness, the only program still on pre-suspension”. According to the Minister of European Funds, on 9 August, the structural funds for which Romania has been reimbursed for the financial period between 2007 and 2013 amounted to approximately EUR 3.7 billion. The value of expense statements sent to Brussels for reimbursement amounted to EUR 4.1 billion at the mentioned date, MFE pointed out.
