Tokes, disappointed by Basescu’s “habits”

EuroDeputy Laszlo Tokes declared himself “disappointed” by the statements of President Traian Basescu about Hungary. “(…) We were not used to such habits from President Traian Basescu, on the contrary, I had the impression that he is the foremost Romanian leader which has the biggest empathy to the problem of the Hungarians, especially of the Szeklers living in Transylvania. I was disappointed by the intervention of Traian Basescu. (…) Mr. Basescu seriously damaged the cause of Hungarians, because he reinforced the innate prejudice,” Tokes said Monday in Cluj-Napoca, quoted by Mediafax. President Traian Basescu said last week, at Izvoru Muresului (Harghita), that 2013 is the last year when Hungarian politicians could stroll in such a relaxed way through Romania and warned that the Romanian state “will take the leadership in rebuking Budapest.”
