EUR 65 M contract for the construction of Polyvalent Hall

The Municipality of Bucharest launched the tender for the design and construction of the new polyvalent hall of the Lia Manoliu complex. The new hall will have 12,000 places, will be located near the National Arena and the contract has a maximum value of EUR 65 M (from the budget of Bucharest), which includes one year of maintenance after the completion of works, HotNews.ro reports. Once the contract signed, the construction of the new polyvalent hall of Bucharest will take two years. According to the task book, the total surface necessary for all the functions of the arena amounts to some 40,000 sq m.
The hall must be able to host various cultural or sporting events (tennis, basketball, handball, indoor football, foosball, volleyball, badminton, boxing, athletics, gymnastics, shooting, table tennis, fencing etc). Next to the new hall, the municipality also plans to build a parking area for some 450 cars, covering 10,000 sq m. The 5-storey hall will have a height of 22 m from field to ceiling.
The contract also provides for designing a web portal for the new arena, with an online ticketing system both for the Polyvalent Hall and for the National Arena. According to the descriptive documentation, “the roof will have impressive openings, conceived as a space metal structure.”
