Prime Minister Ponta to visit Chisinau on August 26-27

Romanian Prime Minister Victor Ponta will pay a visit to the neighboring Republic of Moldova next Monday and Tuesday to attend the opening of the construction works on the gas pipeline to link Iasi, Romania to Ungheni, Moldova.
“We’ll be in Chisinau Monday evening and Tuesday. Finally, after nine years of empty words, we begin the pipeline,” Ponta said in the opening of the Government’s weekly sitting yesterday.
He called on the ministers of finances, education and justice, who are to accompany him to the Republic of Moldova, to get ready and be acquainted with all the projects their ministries are conducting in the neighbouring country.
“I ask you to be prepared, so that it should not be a mere meeting to record the first serious thing done in the last ten years in our relation with Moldova, but also (to discuss) the other projects we are conducting,” Ponta added.
Economy Minister Varujan Vosganian said the Joint Romanian-Moldovan Commission will meet on October 3 and he underscored there are several clear measures of Romania’s support for Moldova’s European integration moves.
