Train fares to hike as of September 1st

Train fares will increase with different amounts starting September 1st, with a maximum 10 pc, following a measure approved through an order of the Ministry of Transportation, taking into consideration the evolution of inflation and the increase, during the last two years, of some costs sustained by CFR Calatori with fuels, energy and spare parts, Mediafax reports. For the short routes (operated by Regio trains) the increase will mean rounding the fare to RON 0.5 or RON 1, increasing the fares with RON 0.5-1, while for long routes operated by InterRegio (IR) trains the fares will increase by maximum 10 pc.
