According to the survey quoted by evz.ro, 68% of the respondents said that the authorities should promote this project, while only 32% said they should oppose the project.
The same opinion poll shows that Romanians trust that the authorities will promote Rosia Montana, 73% of them being of this opinion. In exchange, 27% of the respondents answered that the authorities will oppose Rosia Montana project.
According to the survey, Romanians also support shale gas exploitation. Thus, 59% of the respondents answered that the authorities should promote this project, while 41% said they should oppose the project.
When asked what they think the authorities will do with regard to shale gas, 72% of the respondents stated they will promote this project, while 28% answered that the authorities will oppose this project.
Sociopol carried out its poll in the period August 23rd – 26th, 2013, on a sample of 1079 persons, with an error margin of +/- 3.2%.
Last week, the Government approved the draft law on the mining exploitation at Rosia Montana. The exploitation would start in November 2016.
According to the document, the state’s interest would increase by another 5.69%, to 25% of the shares. The investor will pay to the Government an increased royalty of 6% of the production value, the state having the option to request the company to pay the royalty in kind, according to the draft law.
