Sharp aims for medium term market share of 5 pc in Romania

Japan’s Sharp will open an office in Romania by the end of September, its medium-term goals being to reach a market share of 5 per cent on the electronic products’ market and sales of EUR 8-10 M, Jacek Klekwoski, director of Sharp Electronics Eastern Europe, stated for Mediafax. “Sharp’s sales in Romania currently stand below that goal, the figure trailing far behind the potential of the brand, which is a premium brand. Sharp’s less good results in Romania are the effect of the fact that the company that handles the distribution of our products, a company that was coordinating the operations from Vienna, did not understand the specificity of this market,” Klekowski stated.
The Sharp official added that the decision to open a Sharp office in Romania has taken into account the size of the local market and the dynamic of the GDP.
