General Manager of the Bucharest National Theatre (TNB), Ion Caramitru, on the occasion of the annual gathering of NETA – New European Theatre Action, which took place in early September in Ljubljana (Slovenia), relaunched the idea of organising in Bucharest, in 2015, the first international theatre festival under the aegis of NETA. According to a press release TNB remitted to Agerpres, the festival’s main purpose will be to bring on the stage of the National Theatre the most representative shows to be selected from the entire production of NETA member theatres. “I’m convinced that the voice of artists from this part of Europe is an exceptional one, strong and original, maybe the most interesting at this particular moment while looking at the entire European cultural scene. The NETA festival in Bucharest could offer the ideal chance for this specificity to be brought into light, as part of a natural intercultural dialogue,” Ion Caramitru said, according to the release. Ion Caramitru acted as the President of the professional theatre network New European Theatre Action (NETA) for two years.
