Minister of Defence Mircea Dusa said on Monday, at Deveselu, Olt County (southern Romania), that in early October the American partners would begin work on the Deveselu military base. ‘In a very short time span, we shall be there with the American side, of course for the American side to start work on the base proper. Probably early next week,’ said Minister Dusa. Monday he visited the base at Deveselu, where the Romanian servicemen work to make some arrangements the Ministry of Defence must ensure, such as the fence surrounding the military base, a road in the near vicinity that will be used for patrolling, a level crossing, etc. Mircea Dusa said that the Romanian side too must make a sewage treatment plant and the drinking water supply system, which are also on the schedule that was initially established. ‘Procedures are underway for a tender for other work that must be done next year, namely the electric lighting of the entire area, the supervision system and making the area more secure and the work that must afterwards be done in the pavilions, namely the rehabilitation of the pavilions and the thermal energy supply so that the Romanian servicemen that will carry out missions on this military base should have normal working conditions. We have made a priority of ensuring the funds for this year and for the next year in order to make what devolves on the Romanian side,’ said Minister Mircea Dusa.
