Antonescu: I’ll run for Presidency without PSD support

In an interview for ‘Adevarul’ daily, the leader of the PNL (National Liberal Party), Crin Antonescu, said he will run in the presidential elections either with or without the support from the PSD (Social-Democratic Party). “We do have a political commitment. But not between us, to the electors. (…) I never said: citizens, I will run in the presidential elections, please vote for me because I’m also backed up by the PSD. No. Whether the PSD supports my candidacy or not is not my problem (…) I will run in the presidential elections regardless of what the PSD will decide, to continue to support me or not. However, I have no reason to accuse PSD of intending to break any public political commitment,” said Antonescu, when asked about the possibility that the Social Democrats will no longer support him as their candidate for presidency in 2014.
