Gabriel Torje was officially presented on Thursday at Espanyol Barcelona, the team that loaned him from Udinese this season, the Spanish club’s official website informs. The Romanian player arrived in Barcelona on Wednesday, after he played for Romania against Hungary and Turkey, and on Thursday he underwent medical tests. On his arrival in Barcelona Torje stated: “I am very glad I signed for a club with tradition and history. I am coming here to play and fight in every game, not to prove something. I know the Spanish league and I hope I will play more than I did last year.” The 23-year-old midfielder was warmly welcomed at the Catalan team by Simao Sabrosa, a super-footballer that previously played for Sporting, Benfica, Barcelona, Ateltico Madrid and Besiktas. The 33-year-old Spanish player believes that Torje will improve Espanyol’s quality. “I played against Torje last year, back when he was playing for Granada, and I know he will bring a lot of quality and competitiveness to the team. I am confident that both he and Columbia’s Jhon Cordoba will make us better,” Simao Sabrosa stated, Digisport informs.
