ccording to a government decision draft initiated by the Ministry of Economy and cited by Mediafax, Romania will open a new uranium deposit in Grinties village, Neamt County, since the only deposit that is currently being exploited and is located in Crucea will soon be emptied. The total price of the investment is RON 407.331 million VAT included, of which RON 322 million is reserved for construction and assembly work. The average uranium exploitation capacity per year is 124,000 tons and the investment performance duration is 108 months. The financing will be carried out through own resources by Compania Nationala a Uraniului S.A. Bucuresti from the state budget through the Ministry of Economy – Energy Department budget. Romania uses uranium as fuel for the nuclear power plant of Cernavoda (south-eastern Romania), where two reactors are functioning and other two are planned to be built.
