Queen Ana turned 90 years old

Her Majesty Queen Ana of Romania reached the age of 90 years yesterday. She is the most long living wife of a king in Romanian history.
Princess Ana of Bourbon-Parma was born on September 18th 1923 in Paris. She is the daughter of Prince René of Bourbon-Parma and Princess Margaret of Denmark. Princess Ana grew up in France. Since 1939, after the outbreak of the war, she followed her family to Spain and to the United States, where she attended an art school in New York. In parallel, in order to be able to earn her living, she worked as a saleswoman at Macy’s department store. In 1943, Princess Ana enlisted as a volunteer in the French army. She was, together with her ??regiment, in Algeria, Morocco, Italy, Luxembourg and Germany, until the end of the hostilities. She received the “Cross of War” of France. Princess Ana met King Mihai I of Romania in London. After just one week, the King asked her hand. They got married on June 10th 1948 in Athens.
