According to Capital.ro, oil companies have dropped fuel prices on the Romanian market after having increasing gas and Diesel fuel prices in late August and early September, which resulted in a potential conflict in Syria. Most oil companies reduced the price of gas by 28 bani from early September until today. The gas price is currently the lowest it has been in the last two months. Lukoil, the third largest company judging by number of gas stations on the Romanian market sells Euroluk 95 gas for RON 5.7/liter, compared to RON 5.98/liter at the start of September. This is the lowest gas price value since early July. On Friday, the largest company in Romania – OMV Petrom dropped fuel prices in own gas stations by up to 9 bani, so 1 liter of Standard 95 costs RON 5.69 as of Friday. According to Oil Bulletin reports published by the European Commission, it is the lowest price since early July, when a price of RON 5.62 (EUR 1.263) was reported. At the moment, according to Oil Bulletin, the price for the same type of gas is RON 5.69 (EUR 1.277/liter). Thus, Romania occupies first place among EU countries, with the cheapest gas.
