Bogdan Aurescu: It is in Romania’s national interest to be more than a frontier of the West



Secretary of State Bogdan Aurescu on Thursday said that Romania continued to support the enlargement policy of the EU and NATO, underscoring that it was in Romania’s national interest to be “more than a frontier of the West”, informs a Foreign Affairs Ministry (MAE) release. Aurescu participated in the conference “Anchoring the New Silk Road, Linking Three Seas: Caspian, Black Sea and the Adriatic”. Secretary of State Bogdan Aurescu presented Romania’s view on the Euro-Atlantic security in the panel titled “Out of the Maze: Transatlantic and Eurasian Security for the Next Decade”.
According to MAE, the Romanian dignitary underscored that the new “Silk Route, anchoring the regions of the Adriatic, Black and Caspian Seas, represents the main strategic opportunity to the interface between the Euro-Atlantic and the Eurasian space, providing important political and economic opportunities”.
