Romanians increased their spending with credit card in summer period



According to an analysis on Garanti Bank Bonus Card customers, Romanians increased their spending with credit card in summer period, June-September, indicating a growing preference towards cashless purchases, a press release informs. The data has been collected from more than 108,000 GarantiBank customers, users of BonusCard credit card, during a period of three months (June 15 – September 15, 2013). A spectacular growth is given in particular of online purchases, the number of online transactions performed with Bonus Card increased by 40 pc during the mentioned period against last year. Similar to last year, men spent more than women this summer, representing 54 pc of the total volume of transactions although the cards portfolio is represented more than half by women. However, women use their accumulated bonuses more than men, as 56 pc of the bonuses were redeemed by female cardholders at any of the 5,000 Bonus Card partner merchants’ locations across the country. Furthermore, transactions in instalments grew by 15 pc as compared to the same period last year.
