The Ministry of Regional Development and Public Administration (MDRAP) exceeded the 40 pc absorption rate of European funds allocated to Romania during 2007-2013 through the Regional Operational Programme (POR), reads a press release. Following the last payment made in September by the European Commission to Romania, the European funds absorbed through POR amount to EUR 1.49 bln. The sum accounts for 40.05 pc of the total EUR 3.72 bln allocated from the European Regional Development Fund (ERDF), informs a press release.
The absorption rate of European funds through POR thus registers an increase of more than 15 per cent points compared to January 1, 2013. The increase was generated by the implementation, this year, of the measures aimed at accelerating the repayment requests, enforcing the system of payment demands for beneficiaries and securing the payment availabilities with loans from the Treasury. POR thus retains the first place in the absorption of European funds among the operational programmes conducted by Romania. “(…) We have full confidence that, maintaining the same pace, we will reach the 50 pc target we set for the end of 2013,” deputy PM Liviu Dragnea said in a seminar. As for the Operational Programme Development of the Administrative Capacity (PO DCA), currently administered by MDRAP, it ranks second among operational programmes in Romania.
