Ministry of European Funds publishes Romania’s strategy on European money

Late Tuesday night, the Ministry of European Funds officially launched the new partnership agreement draft for public debate. The draft contains details on the financing priorities for the 11 thematic objectives for which Romania intends to request funding from the European Commission between 2014 and 2020, HotNews.ro informs. The document, dated October 1 (and published on the MFE website) also describes the future institutional structure of EU fund absorption.
“The document will be published informally, because the EU has not adopted the regulations based on which European funds are to be implemented in the upcoming scheduled period,” the Ministry stated.
Financing needs, classified according to thematic objectives, include supporting private institutions, developing public and private research infrastructure, improving access to information and communication technology, improving competitiveness of SMEs, the agricultural sector and fishing, and the aquaculture sector, creating and improving risk monitoring and prevention system, developing road infrastructure within TEN-T network, stimulating employment and supporting labor force mobility.
Only three ministries will have managing authority over operational programs: the Ministry of European Funds, The Ministry of Regional Development and the Ministry of Agriculture.
