Discussion between Romanian and French Interior Ministers on the Roma ethnics

Romanian Interior Minister Radu Stroe met on Monday evening in Luxembourg his French counterpart Manuel Valls, discussing in particular the “problem of the illegal Roma camps”, informs AFP quoted by Mediafax.
Valls arrived on Monday in Luxembourg, where yesterday was a meeting of the European Ministers of Interior regarding the boat sinking in Lampedusa which caused, according to an interim report, the death of at least 232 people. ”He ( Manuel Valls ) met his Romanian counterpart in order to discuss issues of mutual interest”, “bilateral” and, “in particular, the issue of illegal Roma camps,” stated for AFP a source close to the French Minister of Interior.
Valls said in September that a majority of the Roma ethnics does not want integrate in France, these statements causing critics coming including from politicians which are from the left wing parties. He also said that the Roma ethnics in France are “destined to return to Romania or Bulgaria.”
France said that at present time, the conditions of accession of the two countries to the Schengen area are not met.
The French Interior Minister was supposed to go yesterday morning at Forbach, Eastern France, to support the Government’s security policy.
On a different topic, the British Ambassador to Romania, Martin Harris, believes that Romania has met the technical requirements for the Schengen accession, and adds that the British Government’s position, expressed in 2011, has not changed, thus the British Government is supporting the accession of our country to Schengen. “The UK Government’s position was expressed in 2011 and has not changed: we support Romania’s accession to the Schengen area because we believe that Romania has met the technical conditions. I know that other EU member countries have raised considerations in connection with the CVM, and important for Romania is to respond to these considerations,” said Martin Harris, who yesterday was in Cluj- Napoca, where he participated at the conference “The globalization and the new economies” at the Babes -Bolyai University.
