The extraordinary congress of PNTCD held Saturday at the National Opera of Bucharest reconfirmed Aurelian Pavelescu as leader of the party, alongside a new team of 46 people, Mediafax informs. The motion submitted by Pavelescu, under the name ‘We are reborn for your Romania,’ was voted with a score of 514 to 17. The National Steering Bureau of PNTCD include, apart from the office of president, a first vice-president in the person of Vlad Moisescu, the president of CNC – Alexandru Stefanescu, secretary general – Ioan Mihaila, as well as 43 vice-presidents. The 43 vice-presidents include Diana Tusa, a member of the Liberal Romania Initiative, former PDL lawmaker Maria Stavrositu and former ombudsman Gheorghe Iancu. At the conclusion of the voting, Pavelescu said that one of his priorities is finding solutions to unify the Right, as PNTCD will not enter any merger and “it would be ideal” to have a single list for the European elections and a sole candidate for the presidential elections. “We wait to see the conclusion of negotiations between the People’s Movement and the Civic Force,” Pavelescu explained. In his turn, the new vice-president of PNTCD, Vlad Moisescu said that talks are held with the Liberals who would want to join the party and this will happen soon enough, as there might even be some members of the Parliament that will come in the near future.
