All members of the Board of Directors (CA) of Tarom have been sacked by the Ministry of Transportation during the General Shareholders’ Meeting (AGA), according to Bursa newspaper. An announcement by the ministry’s representatives reads that the Board members allegedly violated the company’s statute by deciding to reduce Christian Heinzmann’s term as General Manager from four years to one year. Consequently, the private manager’s term expires on November 19. “It was considered that Board’s members’ statements to the press hurt the company’s image to a great extent,” according to the ministry. The new Board of Directors appointed by the Ministry of Transportation consists of Dante Stein, Counsellor to the Prime Minister, Manuel Donescu, Secretary of State in the Ministry of Transportation, Florin Luca, banking strategy consultant, Bogdan Speteanu, General Manager of BCR Leasing, and Razvan Filipescu, Chairman of the National Tourism Authority. Two additional members will be appointed and the Board will designate a new chairman, Ministry’s representatives have stated. The Ministry of Transportation has recommended the new Board of Directors of Tarom to assess Christian Heinzmann’s activity and the manner in which he has performed his duties.
