Crime rate falls to five-year low

Recorded crime over the first nine months of 2013 dropped to a five-year low following the activities carried out by the structures of the Romanian Police, informs a release of the General Romanian Police Inspectorate (IGRP). Last year was the first in nine years when not only did the recorded crime rate rise no longer, but it decreased by 5.66 oercent, and the downward trend kept steady in the first nine months of 2013. ‘There was a 13.14 percent decline in crimes against persons and a 28.41 percent drop in street robberies. On the other hand, there has been a 11.10 percent rise in tax evasion offenses and following preventive activities, 78.29 percent of the detected crimes were caught in the act,’ reads the release.
