EUR 198 M allocated for orchards rehabilitation

Romania’s fruit tree-growing sector is a priority for the period 2014 – 2020, with a total of 198 ml euros allocated for the rehabilitation of orchards and the establishment of new ones, Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development Daniel Constantin told Agerpres. The objective of the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development (MADR) is that by 2020 Romania expands its orchard area to 200,000 hectares from 140,000 hectares today. Also, nearly EUR  400 M will be made available to Romania in the next seven years for the establishment of agriculture mutual funds and risk management in the sector, with the funding disbursed under the new National Rural Development Programme (NRDP), said Daniel Constantin.
