Over EUR 2.6 bln funds from European Commission, in 2013

The value of the structural and cohesion funds reimbursed to Romania from January 1 to November 7, 2013 amounted to over EUR 2.6 bln, the sum having been reimbursed in the account of the projects carried out by beneficiaries in the public and private sector, informs a Ministry of European Funds release issued. “I underscore that the amount reimbursed this year is higher than that received in the 2007-2012 period, in which Romania drew only 2.2 billion euros,’ said European Funds Minister Teodorovici. ‘The value of structural and cohesion funds returned to Romania since the start of this scheduling period and up to November 7 amounts to over 4.8 billion euros, equivalent to over 25 percent of the total structural and cohesion funds allocated,’ the release reads, Agerpres reports. At the same time, the amounts required to be reimbursed to Romania by the European Commission exceeded 5 billion euros on November 7, with the current absorption rate exceeding the level of 26 percent.
