“Shadow of a Cloud” awarded at Targu Mures International Short Film Festival

The movie “Shadow of a Cloud” by Radu Jude got the award of the 21st edition of the International Short Movie Alter-Native Festival held in Targu Mures, Agerpres reports. Within the awarding gala that took place on Saturday evening, the short movie “Room 606” directed by Peter Volkart (Switzerland) won the award offered by Hungary’s General Consulate in Miercurea Ciuc, the award granted by the Erdely TV channel went to “The Pill of Happiness” by  Felmeri Cecília (Romania), “Welkom” by Pablo Munoz Gomez (Belgium) received the award of the Culture Ministry and “The Street of Raffael” directed by Alessandro Falco (Italy) won the award offered by the Targu Mures City Hall.
“The Little Blond Boy with a White Sheep” by Eloi Henriod (France) was awarded the ‘In Memoriam Simo Sandor’ prize granted by the organizers, the Democratic Union of the Hungarian Youth in Romania, with the support of the National Cinema Center. The same movie was also awarded the “Fountain Pen” prize given by Hungary’s Commissioner for Educational Rights Aary-Tamas Lajos. A number of 60 short movies out of 717 pre-selected films vied for these prizes. Eleven hours were necessary to watch 60 short movies that included 27 animations, 23 action movies, 5 documentaries and 5 experimental films.
The programme also included many feature movies, such as “The Child’s Pose” by Calin Peter Netzer. Netzer’s film won the Berlin Film Festival’s Golden Bear Award at this year’s edition and was designated to represent Romania in next year’s Academy Awards in the Best Foreign Movie category. Another successful movies are “Just the Wind” by Fliegauf Benedek, selected as the Hungarian entry for the Best Foreign Language Oscar at the 85th Academy Awards, and Srdan Golubovic’s “Circles” nominated as Serbia’s submission for best foreign language category at the same film festival.
