Central bank governor tops confidence chart

Governor of the National Bank of Romania (BNR) Mugur Isarescu ranks first with 27 percent favourable opinions in a confidence chart of public personalities, according to a survey conducted by CSOP over October 22 – November 1. Mugur Isarescu was credited with 24 percent also in a poll conducted by CSOP in September, by the time when rumours about his possible presidential bid emerged. Isarescu is followed by PM Ponta (25 per cent) and Bucharest mayor Sorin Oprescu (20 per cent). The survey reveals that 17 percent of respondents trust President Traian Basescu, and 16 percent of them PNL leader Crin Antonescu. 16 per cent of the citizens expressed confidence in Gigi Becali. PDL leader Vasile Blaga enjoys same level of confidence as Cluj mayor Emil Boc, i.e. 13 percent whilst 11 percent of respondents trust Catalin Predoiu.
