The exhibition “Le Port Roumaine. C’est Chic!”, made up of items that are for sale, can be visited over December 5-8, 2013, between 10 a.m. and 8 p.m. at the new location Alchemia – Contemporary Arts Gallery.
The exhibition presents the largest and most valuable selection of Romanian traditional clothing items, with a total of over 1,000 original articles for the 2013-2014 autumn-winter season being on display.
The clothing items include traditional blouses for women, children and men, unique traditional long dresses, unique skirts, dresses with vintage embroidery, sheep wool jackets, wool waistcoats, waists and and many other pieces, handmade clothing items specific to different ethnographic regions of Romania. Also, visitors will be provided with the opportunity to rediscover forgotten tales illustrated by Romanian traditional symbols. A workshop on this topic will be held by architect Ioana Corduneanu, an expert in this domain and the author of the Signs Sewn blog.
The organization of this special Christmas exhibition is only natural given the success of the first two editions of the Romanian Embroidered Peasant Blouse Fair carried out in 2013.
Iiana, Alchemia’s partner in this event, is a Romanian brand that has carefully selected the best producers of Romanian handmade embroidered peasant blouses.
