BNR first vice-governor Florin Georgescu, awarded Doctor Honoris Causa diploma by SNSPA

The first vice-governor of the Central Bank (BNR), Florin Georgescu yesterday received the title of Doctor Honoris Causa from the National School of Political and Administrative Studies (SNSPA), during a ceremony hosted by the Romanian Banking Institute, Agerpres reports. The event was attended by Premier Victor Ponta, former president Ion Iliescu, the speaker of the Chamber of Deputies, Valeriu Zgonea, deputy PM Gabriel Oprea, the minister for Budget, Liviu Voinea, other political and academic personalities. “The good things achieved during one year and a half of governance are due to Florin Georgescu, while the bad things are the contribution of the prime minister and the delegate minister for Budget,” Victor Ponta said on this occasion. The premier added that the BNR first vice-governor was the person that explained to him the signification of some economic terms like GDP or ESA, while also teaching him to be “consistent with himself.” “We honour one of the most solid personalities from the sphere of governance, with experience in high responsibility offices in the State, the central administration, Parliament and the National Bank of Romania, with an important contribution to defining the governmental policies in economy and finances,” mentioned Vasile Secares, founding rector of SNSPA.
