Canah International expands business on the local market

Founded in 2007 in Salonta, Bihor, Canah International, the sole integrated manufacturer of hemp seed products in Europe, is directing its activity toward the local market, where it expects to report a significant growth in coming months. Initially, Canah’s activity started in 2008 on a niche market and relied on constant exports on three continents, which has led to this year’s prospective turnover of over EUR 4 million, 85 percent higher than last year, Dan Lazarescu, administrator and majority shareholder of Canah International, stated. Over 80 percent of the factory’s production is aimed at Europe (England, Finland, Sweden, Denmark, Germany, Belgium, the Netherlands, France, the Czech Republic, Slovenia, and Italy), the United States, and Israel, he added. The company’s products include own brand products, importer brand products, and bulk products, which are on highest demand. Lazarescu characterized Romania as a market with potential, but also limitations. “Sales volumes on the local market are currently experiencing a monthly increase of over 5 percent, which is significant for a niche market. For this reason, we are planning on investing in a campaign to promote our products in Romania,” he explained. One of the limitations mentioned by the shareholder refers to the impossibility of using local resources, which forces Canah International to import 99.5 percent of its raw materials from France and China and the remaining amount from internal production.
