SRI head George Maior says that there has been no secret agreement between the Romanian Intelligence Agency (SRI) and the U.S National Security Agency (NSA): “We had no phone tapping protocol with the NSA. The NSA conducted no phone tapping on Romania’s territory.” Maior was heard on Thursday within the SRI overseeing Commission where he presented a review of the agency’s activity.
Maior added that there are no hikes in the number of SRI employees and that the SRI’s 2014 budget is of RON 1.1 bln. Maior pointed out that SRI’s main objective is national security and that it is trying to not get involved in political battles.
