East West Petroleum gets go-ahead for gas extraction in Bihor & Timis

The government approved several oil concession agreements of exploration-development-extraction in the perimeters Baile Felix (Bihor County), Biled and Periam (Timis Counties), signed by the National Agency for Mineral Resources (ANRM) and the Canadian company East West Petroleum Corp, which has operations in the USA, India, New Zealand and Morocco. The agreements were approved through government decisions. Their annexes were not made public, as they are classified. All the accords came into force when the respective government decisions were published by the Official Gazette. Referring to the news about possible shale gas exploration and extraction operations in the Baile Felix area, ANRM informs that the accord signed with East West Petroleum only refers to natural gas and crude oil. ANRM made the announcement after central media and the local press of Oradea and Timisoara reported Tuesday that the accords allow the extraction of shale gas deposits that might be discovered at Baile Felix, as several protests against shale gas operations were already organised by local population.
