Romania fully subscribes to the EU message delivered by the Head of the EU Delegation to the United Nations to the Chairman of the UN Committee on the exercise of the inalienable rights of the Palestinian people, in New York on 13 November 2013.
The celebration of the International Day of Solidarity with the Palestinian People offers to Romania the pleasant opportunity to convey its most sincere wishes of peace, security and prosperity to the friendly Palestinian people.
The relation between our people has grown and matured over many years, while unfolding along the lines of mutual understanding and tolerance.
The event we are celebrating every year on November 29 stands as a reminder of the tormented history of the Palestinian people. It also stands as the shining light of hope for fulfilling the Road Map’s vision of an independent democratic and viable Palestinian state, living side by side in peace and security with Israel and its other neighbours. (…) We welcomed the resuming of direct talks between Palestinian and Israeli negotiating teams, as a result of the US Administration’s efforts and personal commitment of Secretary of State John Kerry, hoping in a positive outcome of that historic process. (…) While renewing the message of our solidarity with the Palestinian people, we express the strong belief that their peaceful aspirations will come true in the foreseeable future. (Excerpts)
