Refusing rate of Romanians’ US visa requests drops 11.5 pc

The Romanian diplomacy assures that it will continue to pay priority attention to Romania getting to Visa Waiver as soon as possible, both in the dialogue with the representatives of the US Administration and by steps taken in the American Congress. The American authorities informed of the 11.5 per cent drop in the rate of refusing visa requests from the Romanian citizens in the 2012-13 fiscal year, an aspect that was hailed by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MAE) on Monday. According to MAE, this evolution ‘reconfirms the significant diminishing tendency in the past few years (17 per cent in 2012, 22.4 per cent in 2011, and 24.8 per cent in 2010).’ In context the MAE vices hope that this tendency will continue in the future too, including the prospect of the activity carried out by the working group for consular questions, the question of visas included,’ which was created as part of the Romania-US task force for implementing the joint declaration on the strategic partnership for the 21st century between Romania and the United States of America.
