Snowfalls, blizzards expected today countrywide

Forecasters have warned Maramures, northern Eastern Carpathians and Apuseni Mountains would be hit by snowfalls today, wind gusts of up to 70 km per hour as well, and western Romania is expected to experience mixed precipitation and glazed frost in certain areas. Wind gusts reaching 70 km per hour and 100 km on the edges are forecast in the mountainous areas. Wind speeds will reach 50-60 km per hour in the other regions of the country. ANM issued yesterday a yellow code advisory for snowfalls and blizzard, as well as over 70 km wind speeds, for various counties such as Gorj, Botosani, Iasi, Harghita, Covasna and Brasov.
