The National Tourism Authority put three contracts on tender to purchase some advertising services on the media channels in Germany, Italy and the UK, in order to implement the multiannual operational plan of marketing for the national tourism brand. According to money.ro, the contract’s value exceeds EUR 9.5 million VAT-free. The money will be paid by the European Fund of Regional Development. The contracts will run from March 2014 to May 2015. The estimated VAT-free value of the advertising contract on the media channels in Germany is RON 17 million. The opening for bids is January 28, 2014. The budget allocated for media in Germany is EUR 3.91 million, whereas the contract in Italy is RON 13.63 million. The opening for bids is on January 30. The least amount of money goes to the advertising contract for the UK, whose value amounts to RON 12.5 million. First Vice-President of the National Association of Tourism Operators Alin Burcea told Mediafax that Romania still does not make it a priority to bring foreign tourists because it does not support the fifteen tourism operators which include incoming services, but supports the German tour operators which bring but few tourists. The official said that more than 100,000 Romanian tourists prefer not to come to the seaside from Cluj-Napoca, Timisoara, Iasi or Targu-Mures because they do not benefit from flights to Constanta.
