Deputy Gheorghe Coman arrested for 30 days

Deputy Gheorghe Coman (Conservative Party, member of ruling alliance), accused of abuse of his ruling position within the party in order to gain money, goods or other improper services, was held in preventive arrest for 30 days, according to a definitive rule issued on Tuesday night by the High Court of Cassation and Justice (ICCJ), according to Mediafax.
According to the DNA, the deputy was seized on December 19 after fleeing by car upon being caught in the act. Gheorghe Coman was taken to DNA headquarters in Ploiesti Local Service, where he was interrogated for more than three hours.
The prosecutors said Gheorghe Coman created a circle of relations made up of people holding ruling positions within public authorities and institutions both at central and local level, among dignitaries and political leaders. The deputy used to mediate through these people some private interests aiming mostly political support to gain access to important public positions.
Gheorghe Coman was voted deputy on PPDD lists and in March 2013 jumped ship to PC. He had been elected chairman of PC Buzau in December. PC leaders decided to suspend deputy Gheorghe Coman as member of the party, until his position is cleared.
